The right plants. The right start.
A new hedge can make a garden feel more private and welcoming. A well-chosen tree can bring shade, seasonal colour and a focal point for years to come. BRW helps you plan planting around your space, the ground conditions and the result you want.
From a single replacement tree to a new garden boundary, we discuss suitable plants, planting sizes and preparation before quoting. We work with homeowners, landlords and businesses, with clear advice from the first enquiry to aftercare.
Planting to suit your space
Tree planting
New garden trees, ornamental trees and replacements after removal. We consider mature size, available space, light and nearby structures so the tree has room to develop.
Hedge planting & privacy screening
New boundaries, gaps in existing hedges and planting for a greener outlook. We discuss evergreen, deciduous or mixed hedging, spacing and the level of maintenance you are comfortable with.
Hedge replacement & ground preparation
Replacing a tired or unsuitable hedge? We can quote for removal, stump work and preparation alongside the new planting, with the scope agreed before work starts.
Commercial & replacement planting
Planting for managed gardens, business premises and communal spaces. If you already have a planting schedule or replacement requirement, send it with your enquiry so we can assess the work.
A clear plan, from start to finish
01 · Tell us what you want to achieve
Send your postcode, photographs and approximate hedge length or number of trees. Let us know whether privacy, appearance or replacing existing plants is the priority.
02 · Choose a suitable planting plan
We discuss soil, drainage, light, exposure, access and future growth. Plant type, size, supply arrangements and any clearance are agreed in your quotation.
03 · Prepare & plant carefully
The agreed area is prepared and plants are positioned at suitable spacing and depth. Staking, guards and mulch are considered where appropriate.
04 · Give new plants the care they need
We explain watering and ongoing care so you know what to check as the planting settles in. Any follow-up visits or maintenance are agreed separately.
Good aftercare makes the difference
New roots need time to establish. Check soil moisture and water during dry spells, keep competing weeds down and check ties or guards as plants grow. Larger plants may need attention for several seasons.
Watering needs vary with the plant, soil and weather. We discuss a practical routine for your garden rather than relying on rainfall alone. Ongoing hedge trimming and tree care can also be quoted for.
Tree & hedge planting FAQs
When is the best time to plant?
Autumn and winter are often suitable for tree planting when ground conditions allow. Bare-root hedging is normally planted during the dormant season. Container-grown plants offer more flexibility, but spring and summer planting needs closer attention to watering. Avoid frozen or waterlogged ground.
Can you help me choose the right hedge or tree?
Yes. We discuss your preferred height, privacy, appearance and maintenance, alongside the site's light, soil and exposure. There is no single best plant for every garden, and mature size matters as much as its appearance on planting day.
Can you supply the plants?
Tell us whether you need plant supply included or already have plants ready. We will confirm suitable stock, sizes, availability and what is included before you accept the quotation.
Can you remove the old hedge first?
Yes, we can assess and quote for the clearance and any stump work needed before replanting. We check access, the condition of the ground and any restrictions affecting removal when planning the job.
How much does planting cost?
The price depends on plant type and size, quantities, site access, soil preparation and any existing vegetation or stumps to remove. Send photos and approximate measurements for a free, no-obligation quotation. A site visit may be needed.
Will a new hedge provide instant privacy?
That depends on the species, starting size and spacing. Larger plants can provide more initial cover, while smaller stock takes time to fill out. We explain the options and the aftercare involved so you can choose a practical solution.
